In October 2010, I teamed up with my former colleague Jacquelyn "Jac" Piette to produce an animated short film as an independent passion project. Over the course of the next five years, we assembled a group of dedicated professionals from the film industry, brought together by their love for the art of animation. Artists from around the world volunteered their free time to be a part of the project. In 2012, the team launched a successful Kickstarter campaign (below) to raise funds for rendering the film. The film premiered in Los Angeles at the Laemmle Ahrya Theatre on July 23, 2016. After a successful run at film festivals and internal screenings at major studios, we released the film on YouTube in March 2019.
As VFX supervisor at the start-up Animation Studio, Lengi Studios, I had the opportunity to lead a variety of projects including film, television, and advertising. I wore a number of hats, including but not limited to:
Supervised all VFX/Animation operations.
Recruited, trained, and managed team.
Ensured delivery of high-quality artwork, assets, and shot work through dailies and critiques.
Provided on-set supervision for live action filming, capturing data and guiding placement of greenscreens and tracking markers.
Worked with leadership to develop strategies for studio growth.
Developed pitch decks and style guides for original tv/film content.
Provided creative direction to a team of artists to produce exploratory concept art, storyboards, animatics, and turnarounds.
Guided the team through all stages of visual development through final 3D production.
Created concept art for characters and environments
Collaborated closely with Director of Technology and software team to design and implement the 3D production pipeline from ground up.
Built and optimized CG pipeline for exporting Maya animations for rendering in Unreal Engine.
Integrated Shotgrid for production management and file management. Developed UI tools and tutorials.
Developed on-site render farm for Maya and Nuke.
Created detailed script breakdowns and bids for film, tv, and advertising projects.
Interfaced with clients, studio leadership, and the creative team.
Delegated tasks to team members and managed schedule to ensure timely delivery.
Developed a recruiting workflow and onboarding procedures.
